Deacons are expected to be helpers, counselors, and follower workers with the pastor. The need for deacons arose out of the early church to assist the pastor in administering to the spiritual welfare of the congregation.
The deacon is the second scriptural officer of the church. The deaconship is intended to be a cooperative yet subordinate aide in the ministerial and pastoral functions.
Although not biblical, but required by the State, the trustees oversee the assets of the church. They're a part of the leadership team of the church.
The trustees contribute their time, skills, and money to the upkeep and welfare of the church.
Our Adopt-A–Senior Ministry is an opportunity for the congregation to partner with our senior members. The ministry encourages the congregation to support the external and internal needs of the church. The wisdom and spirituality that comes from this endeavor helps members grow in their walk with the Lord.
Children / Youth Choir
The Children / Youth Choir gives our young members the opportunity to minister to the congregation through song and presentation. They have the opportunity to be active in many other ways beyond the choir.
Death and the loss of a loved one is a difficult situation. The Bereavement Ministry is here to offer spiritual support to those who are grieving a loved one. We're here to listen and to be a support system to help families and friends through their time of bereavement.
Christian Women’s Ministry
Christian Women’s Ministry (CWA) is a prayer circle that was started by women of the church. They hold Bible Study and extend their missionary work outside the doors of the church.
"Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm." (Psalm 98:5). Ministering comes in various forms and fashions but music is the most popular one. From the old Negro Spiritual and the traditional church hymns to the modern day contemporary gospel music, songs have brought us up and over, across and through the trials and tribulations of life.
Our choirs are created to be a ministering aspect of the service and provide a variance to the worship experience. We welcome anyone interested in contributing to the ministry through vocal or instrumental praise.

Christian Education helps you to apply biblical teachings in your daily life and understand the Word as it is taught from the pulpit. The Department of Christian Education provides the congregation the opportunity to learn the Bible and the testaments of being a Christian, and specifically a Baptist.
Opportunities to learn come through weekly Sunday School and Bible Study, monthly Rockford and Vicinity District Sessions, annual Spring and Fall Sessions as well as state, regional, and national conventions.
Health Awareness Ministry
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth (John 3:1). It's important to be a healthy Christian to carry out the Word of the Lord.
Our Health Awareness Ministry supports the congregation during the period of worship and teaches us about healthy living on a regular basis. A healthy congregation will provide strength to spread the gospel through all nations.
New Member’s Orientation
The New Member’s Orientation classes provide new members the knowledge and foundational understanding to know how to go forward as a body of Christ and walk on the path of righteousness. People who are new to the Baptist faith will be baptized under the Trinity - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
As the church considers healthy eating and living as important factors, the Culinary Ministry works to provide a balanced, healthy, and soul-satisfying meal and presentation for church dinners, and other events.
As a church, we seek to effectively and efficiently minister to the needs of the unsaved and unchurched. Our senior pastor's focus continues to be "Study the Word of God, follow the Will of God, and do the Work of God!”
Our congregation at Providence Baptist Church is friendly and warm. Our goal as missionaries of God is to reach out and show the love of God to those who need it the most. We welcome you to join us.
We look forward to meeting you at 2209 Clifton Ave., Rockford, IL.
